The Yodeling Sea Horse
(Gary Bowman)
.
I wrote this song for Amy, who is intrigued by the notion that a sea horse would be capable of yodeling.
.
Way down in the tropics, Swaying palms, balmy breeze
Lived a lonely Sea Horse, In aqua-blue seas
Hangin’ in the Sea Grass, Just swimmin’ along
Hear his lonesome yodel-aa-ee all the day long.
He sees a Sea Horse Beauty, He asks for a date
Dorsal fin a-flutters, Her heart palpitates
Clinging to the eelgrass, Full moon above
Goo-goo-eyed Sea Horses, Falling madly in love
Oh-eh-lay-ee-ee, Ah-lay-ee-aa, Ah-lay-ee-ee-ee-ee
The Wedding is a-rockin’, With a Puffer Fish band,
She’s a Coronet Beauty, He’s a Yodelin’ Man
Dancing in the Sea Grass, Just about dawn
Angel Fish a-singing, And yodeling along
Oh-eh-lay-ee-ee, Ah-lay-ee-aa, Ah-lay-ee-ee-ee-ee
Papa has a brood pouch, He’s about to give birth!
The Papa is the Mama, Say, hey, what on earth?
The family’s growing, Fifty-one…fifty-two…
The youngsters all a-playin’, And they’re yodeling, too!
Oh-eh-lay-ee-ee, Ah-lay-ee-aa, Ah-lay-ee-ee-ee-ee
Angel Fish smile, As they gaze from above
At this Sea Horse couple, Still madly in love
Swimming through the Sea Weed, With tails entwined,
Eating all the Brine Shrimp, That they can find
Dancing in the Sea Grass, Just about dawn
Together forever, Hear them yodel their song
Oh-eh-lay-ee-ee, Ah-lay-ee-aa, Ah-lay-ee-ee-ee-ee
